Two postgraduate programs are offered, either on full-time or part-time basis,
by the Department of Biomedical Engineering. These are:
Master of Engineering Science
This is a research-based program, and prospective applicants must hold a bachelor
degree in engineering from the University of Malaya, or an equivalent degree.
Applicants from other academic backgrounds will also be considered.
The degree of MEngSc will be granted according to a dissertation composed from
a research conducted at the Department. The research work is based on a title
which must be certified by the University of Malaya Senate.
Dissertations will be examined by the research supervisor. An external moderator
will be appointed for each field of expertise for the purpose of evaluating
the course and also for examining dissertations of the students.
Doctor of Philosophy
This is a research-based program, and prospective applicants must hold a master
degree in engineering from the University of Malaya, or an equivalent degree.
Applicants from other academic backgrounds will also be considered.
The degree of PhD will be conferred according to a thesis composed from a research
conducted at the Department. The research work is based on a title which must
be certified by the University of Malaya Senate.
Theses will be examined by the research supervisor, and two appointed external
moderators. Students will also need to attend a viva voce session.
