BioMed 2004
The 2nd Kuala Lumpur International Conference on Biomedical
Engineering (Biomed 2004) was held on 2-4 September, 2004
at the Hilton
Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
The event was officiated by the Minister
of Higher Education, Dato' Sri Dr. Haji Shafie Haji Mohd.
Salleh, whom represented the Prime
Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
The conference was supported by IUPESM,
IFMBE,
and other organisations including the National Heart Institute,
Institute of Engineers Malaysia, Ministry of Health, IEEE
(Malaysia chapter), and Tourism Malaysia. The main corporate
sponsor for Biomed 2004 was Healthtronics.
The conference attracted more than 150 participants and 95
papers were accepted for publication in the proceedings, which
was published as part of the IFMBE Proceedings Series (Volume
7, 2004, ISBN 983-2085-68-3, ISSN 1680-0737)
BioMed 2002
The inaugural Kuala Lumpur International Conference on Biomedical
Engineering (BioMed 2002) was held on 6-8 June, 2002 at the
JW
Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Abdullah
Ahmad Badawi officiated the launch of the conference, which
is supported by IFMBE,
IUPESM,
and IEEE
(Malaysia). The main corporate sponsors for the event
are SSP Medical
Technologies Group, Faber
Group, and Philips
(Malaysia).
The conference attracted researchers and experts in the field
of biomedical engineering from the United States, Great Britain,
Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. Invited
keynote speakers for the conference include Dov Jaron (IFMBE
President), Jean-Pierre Morucci (IUPESM President), John Enderle,
Joon B. Park, John. C. Barbanel, J. P. Paul, and Wan Abu Bakar
Wan Abas.

BioMed 2000
The first BioMed conference was held on 27-28 September, 2000
at the Crystal
Crown Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
The event was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Human Resources,
Dr. Abdul Latiff Ahmad. The conference was supported by IEEE
(Malaysia) and SSP
Medical Technologies Group provided the main corporate
sponsorship.
Participants for the conference include delegates and speakers
from tertiary and research institutions around Malaysia. Click
